Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has decided to launch “Grama Jyothi” program from the coming Aug 15th Independence Day, for the all round development of villages. The objective of the program is to strengthen the panchayat raj system, making gram panchayats active participants in development schemes and preparation of plans at village-level on their own.
Minister of Panchayat Raj, K T Rama Rao held a meeting on Tuesday in Hyderabad with the sub-committee members and discussed on the plan of action. Speaking on this occasion, KTR said the Grama Jyothi sub-committee is likely to submit a report within a week.
KTR also said review meetings will be held on a regular basis from now, discussing on the plan of action with the district collectors, district parishad chairman, Zhilla Parishad and Mandal Parishad members.
The CM will hold further discussions with vice-chairman of State Planning Board S. Niranjan Reddy, Rural Development Minister and officials, district Collectors and Joint Collectors at Marri Channa Reddy Institute of Human Resources Development on July 30.
The villages are most likely to get a facelift in terms of water, power, education, health, better roads and other facilities to the people through the Grama Jyothi program.
