Viber is not the best app to use, when in a poor network coverage area as it tends to be slow or sluggish in such connections. WhatsApp on the other hand performs just fine in these situations where users have poor network coverage. What this means is that WhatsApp can be used to communicate even when in 2G networks, while Viber cannot be used in such conditions. Furthermore, Viber tends to consume a lot of battery power as compared to WhatsApp, which is more power-efficient.
