Cyberabad police launched Citizen-Police Connect programme
through popular mobile messaging service on 20th Friday , WhatsApp. As part of the
initiative, all sub-inspectors and above rank officers would be
connected to the service and citizens can complain, report, suggest and
update by sending messages, audio, video clippings and images to cell
number 9490617444 relating to crime, harassment, eve-teasing, traffic,
law and order, etc.
“The intention of having WhatsApp
service is to enable police to immediately transmit messages, photos,
videos of any scene of crime as soon as possible, any incident & suspect, a criminal who
is on the run after committing a crime, arrested person, information
about any snatching or robbery,” Cyberabad Police Commissioner C V Anand
said at the launch event, adding that a group of up to 100 people or
contacts can be made through this facility.
The 10 groups, Law & Order, Crime,
Traffic, Madhapur Zone, Balanagar Zone, Malkajgiri Zone, LB Nagar Zone,
Shamshabad Zone, CAR & CSW and media group, will have a common
number, Anand said. Traffic offences/violations, traffic jams, any
suggestions on improving traffic flow, any traffic violator who is
resisting, etc can also be made, he said, adding that this would help
all officers to be aware and alert about what was happening within the
jurisdiction of Cyberabad Police Commissionerate and take action as per
the situation. “The action taken report will be collected from the
officers and sent to citizens on need basis, as and when required,”
Anand added.
