Ninety-one days after launching, Lollipop is finally coming to the Samsung Galaxy S5 on a US carrier. The first out of the gate is actually Verizon, a company usually known for having the slowest OS updates out there.

Lollipop updates for specific models have taken an obscene amount of time to make it around the world. The Galaxy S5 Lollipop rollout first started two months ago in Poland.

Verizon's website details what Samsung customers can expect and just how much of Android 5.0's interface has shown through Samsung's TouchWiz skin. Judging by the screenshots, it looks like the priority notification mode has survived, and Samsung has adopted the new Lollipop lock screen. Samsung's system apps are now using the floating action button, and Recent Apps looks just like it does in Lollipop.

The update should be rolling out now, and these things usually take about two weeks to hit every device. For now, Verizon says all you can do is hit the "check update" button.

Galaxy S5 Lollipop

We have seen videos of Android 5.0 Lollipop running on the Galaxy S5 for months now, since long before the update was actually released to the public in any market. Now that the release version is finally beginning to trickle out, however, it’s time to revisit the new software.

Droid Life recorded a lengthy video that gives users a complete walkthrough of all the new features in Samsung’s version of Android 5.0 Lollipop. The video is more than 9 minutes long, and it does a great job of hitting all of the key points and showing users just how different Lollipop is on the Galaxy S5 compared to pure Android phones like the Nexus 6.
